TODAY’S NOTICES:
1. KLSB and Falkirk Foodbank would like to send a huge thank you to Larbert Tryst Church for their generous donations from the Harvest Service. They have both been quite overwhelmed by your generosity.
2. Sunday teas rota: The Sunday teas have been extremely well attended, always busy it is great to see people enjoy this very important time of fellowship after the morning service. We are indebted to the ladies who “man” the tea teams each week, because the clearing away at the end especially is no small task and requires a full team each week, as several of our volunteers are more “mature”, I take my hat off to them for still wanting to help. We have 2 vacancies on the rota to fill, so if you are a lady, or a gentleman, who would like to be the first ever to be on the tea rota, then please contact myself, Janet Prophet, either in person or on 07757943250! It is important to keep the Sunday teas going in the present form, if we end up not having enough volunteers, it might not be sustainable to continue on a weekly basis.
3. SOS Save Old Stamps: A reminder to members of the congregation that the Church of Scotland continues to encourage the saving of used stamps, and collection boxes are located in the vestibule and at doors into the church. The 2025-2026 project is to support the work of the Al Ahli Hospital in Northern Gaza run by a partner church, the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East. Thank you for your support SOS – Save Old Stamps.
4. Tryst Church will take part in the Shoebox Appeal in 2025. There are two beneficiaries, Operation Christmas Child (for children) and Blythswood Care (all ages). The details of what is suitable for boxes varies between the two and so it is important to get the correct leaflet and follow the instructions as to what is permitted. Flat pack boxes are available for Operation Christmas Child only.
There are some spare items which will be available in the hall after the service. If you have empty boxes at home you could donate, they can be wrapped and used. To save storage issues, please bring back shoeboxes on Sunday 2nd November.
5. Flowers in Church today have been donated by Janet Prophet. 6. The Real Advent Calendar from the Meaningful Chocolate Company can be ordered today and for the next two Sundays in the Large Hall. Included is a Christmas Story Activity Book and a Fairtrade chocolate behind every door as well as a line of the story. The price is the same as last year, 4.95. Money raised from the sale of the calendars is donated to charitable projects such as The Funzi and Bodo Trust, which helps to provide care and support for mums ands new babies in African villages.
7. Refurbishment team: The team has appointed Wham architecture to work with us on the refurbishment project. Wham has completed a laser survey of the church and grounds. They have been working on a feasibility study. The study will be completed before Christmas and will give us lots of ideas for modernising and improving our church. The next stage will be to share the feasibility study with you and our community, so that we decide on the alterations which best support our Mission. David Grant.
8. Order of Service: A few large copies are now available at the entrance doors.
