Memories Group
The Memories Group was set up some years ago, initially after some advice from Michael White who is heavily involved in similar groups all over Scotland. It is a social gathering designed to allow older members of the community to enjoy the company of others in a comfortable setting. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month apart from January, July and August. We have speakers who give illustrated talks of general interest with a leaning towards local history but not exclusively. We also have occasional musical afternoons and an annual Burns Afternoon with our friends from ‘Chapter 4’. in addition, we have an occasional picture quiz and send out an on-line screen quiz every Monday.

Tea and coffee and some wonderful home baking from our dedicated group of ladies are greatly looked forward to and enjoyed during a short break.
The real aim of the group is to provide a setting for older members of the community to come together and have a chat with friends. The topics generally give our group the chance to relax and reminisce in good company. We hope that it is an enjoyable afternoon and and we have people from all parts of the community, not only Church members
In all this we have been given great support from local historian, Ian Scott, who has been a great help in finding suitable speakers.
We meet at 2pm in the Large Hall and there is no charge. Any donations we receive are shared between the Church and Alzheimer Scotland, as we try to support the work they do.
