Weekly notices: Week beginning 2nd November

Today’s notices:

  1. Flowers in Church today have been donated by Archie Blair “In memory of Lorraine”, also Elsie Watson in memory of mum Betty.
  2. Foodbank: Totals received from October collection was, Food, toiletries Etc 98.02kg; Cash £175.00. thank you so much for your donations.
  3. Contact Forms: Thank you to all those who completed a Contact Form recently giving us permission to use your contact details for communication. We are hoping to use email where possible to get in touch with members. If you didn’t manage to complete one, there are forms available in the vestibule and a box for you to return the completed forms. We appreciate your help and support in this matter!
  4. Refurbishment team: The team has appointed Wham architecture to
    work with us on the refurbishment project. Wham has completed a laser
    survey of the church and grounds. They have been working on a feasibility
    study. The study will be completed before Christmas and will give us lots of
    ideas for modernising and improving our church. The next stage will be to
    share the feasibility study with you and our community, so that we decide on
    the alterations which best support our Mission. David Grant.
  5. The Real Advent Calendar from the Meaningful Chocolate Company, this is
    the final day orders can be taken in the Large Hall. Included is a Christmas Story
    – Activity Book and a Fairtrade chocolate behind every door as well as a line of
    the story. The price is the same as last year, £4.95. Money raised from the sale
    of the calendars is donated to charitable projects such as The Funzi and Bodo
    Trust, which helps to provide care and support for mums and new babies in
    African villages.
  6. CrossReach Wall Calendars – Orders are now being taken for the attractive 2026 Wall Calendar produced by the Church of Scotland crossReach project. Ideal for personal use or as a gift at Christmas/New Year, this year’s cost is £5.50. Please place your order with Alex Duncan in the hall after this morning’s service.
  7. Shoe Box Appeal: If you are short of one or two items for your box, do have a look at the table in the hall. Various individual goods have been donated, and may be just what you need. Boxes should be returned today please. There are flat pack boxes available for Operation Christmas Child and a small number of wrapped boxes for Blythswood Care.
  8. Rwanda: In November, one of our trustee elders will be revisiting the ikirezi project in Rwanda to help them celebrate their 20th anniversary. This project has been supported by Airth in recent years and anyone wishing to give Anne a donation, she will make good use of this to take out items needed to support the woman and children involved in the project. THIS WEEK’S NOTICES:

9. Glasses: There is a box at the back of the church for old spectacles, which will be donated to one of the local opticians.

10. Weekday Worship on Thursday 6 th November at 11.15am will be led by Gregor, Youth Worker with Larbert Churches’ Youth Trust . Tea/ coffee and biscuits are available in the Church from 10.30am. All welcome.

11. Larbert Men’s Christian Association are meeting on Tuesday 4th November at 2pm. in Larbert Tryst Church Hall. The speaker will be The Tattie Man’, speaking about potatoes and where our vegetables come from! This meeting is open to all, everyone is welcome. Entry is £3.

12. Larbert Tryst Women’s Group meets on Tuesday 4 th November at 7.00pm. Our speaker will be from Age Scotland. All welcome.

13. Memories Group: The next meeting is on Wednesday 5 th November at 2.00pm. in the large Hall when Russell MacGillivray will speak about Great Events of 1945.

ADVANCED NOTICES:

14. Breakfast Prayer Meeting 9 th November, 9.00 – 9.30am. Details from Dave or Margaret Tooth.

15. Tryst Church Afternoon Group meets on Monday 10 th November at 2.30pm. “New Falkirk Town Hall, Library & Hub” with Robert Hammond is our topic. All welcome.

16. Tear Fund Big Quiz Night: Saturday 15 th  November 2025 at 7.30pm. We are joining hundreds of other churches in the UK, taking part in this event. Please register with Margaret Tooth (contact us form). Join in as a team of 4-6 or come along and be allocated to a team. Entry by donation. Tear Fund is transforming lives in communities around the world through local partners, and our contribution will help in that work. Questions will be suitable for 12 years and upwards.

17. Larbert Tryst Guild meets on Tuesday 11 th November at 2.00pm. Our topic will be Comfort Rwanda, talk by Lyndsey Kirk. All welcome.

NEXT SUNDAY’S SERVICE

Our Service begins at 10.30 am, when we welcome back Isabelle McMillan to lead our service.
We also welcome our Uniformed Organisations who Our Retiring Offering will be donated to Poppy Scotland.

The Young Church meet in the Large Hall from 10.15am.

Teas/coffees are available after the service in the Large Hall. Please join us.
