This page provides guidance on what to do after you’ve switched over from a Larbert East Church email address to a Tryst Church email address (e.g. from firstname.lastname@larberteast.church to firstname.lastname@tryst.church).
First – wait!
After you receive notification that you’ve been switched over, it’s best to wait for at least one day from the date and time of the email notification before you do anything. This is to allow Microsoft time to update its systems first with the change. If you don’t wait, you might find you’re unable to log into the website versions of Microsoft 365 (www.office.com) or Outlook (http://www.outlook.com).
Introduction
Below there are six sets of instructions and videos to help you switch over from your larberteast.church email and login to tryst.church. There’s not actually a lot for you to do since the system manages most of the changes for you.
Most importantly, whatever you do, you should check that you’ve moved over in Microsoft 365 / Outlook for the web as described in section (1) below. And then choose whichever of the sections apply to you depending on your preferred device(s) and application(s).
(1) Microsoft 365 / Outlook for the web
Summary instructions
- DO THIS FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE, and it’s best done on a laptop or PC
- Go to: microsoft365.com
- Enter your new tryst.church email and password.
- Once logged in, you should see that your email identity has changed to your new tryst.church email address.

(2) Outlook PC or laptop desktop application
If you haven’t previously used your larberteast.church email in this program or app:
- Head across to Home > Our Communities > Information Technology > First Time User – Microsoft 365 Email and Cloud
- And go to the guidance for setting up your church email on your program or app of choice for the first time.
Summary instructions
- Open Outlook.
- Check that it’s now showing your church email as ‘tryst.church’.
- That’s it!

(3) iPhone with standard iPhone email app
If you haven’t previously used your larberteast.church email in this program or app:
- Head across to Home > Our Communities > Information Technology > First Time User – Microsoft 365 Email and Cloud
- And go to the guidance for setting up your church email on your program or app of choice for the first time.
Summary instructions
- Go to “Settings” > “Accounts” > “Mail Accounts”.
- Select and delete your existing church email account.
- Select “Add account” and add your new tryst.church account
- When it’s been successfully added, go back to the email app and check that it’s working OK.

(4) Phone with Outlook mobile email app
If you haven’t previously used your larberteast.church email in this program or app:
- Head across to Home > Our Communities > Information Technology > First Time User – Microsoft 365 Email and Cloud
- And go to the guidance for setting up your church email on your program or app of choice for the first time.
Summary instructions
- Open the Outlook app.
- Go to the Settings area
- Change the relevant fields from ‘larberteast.church’ to ‘tryst.church’

(5) Phone with Gmail app
If you haven’t previously used your larberteast.church email in this program or app:
- Head across to Home > Our Communities > Information Technology > First Time User – Microsoft 365 Email and Cloud
- And go to the guidance for setting up your church email on your program or app of choice for the first time.
Summary instructions
- Open the Gmail app.
- Go to the Settings area
- Remove the existing larberteast.church email account from within Gmail
- Re-start the Gmail app.
- Add a new account using your tryst.church email address.

(6) Email on laptop or desktop PC using a different email program (e.g. Thunderbird)
If you haven’t previously used your larberteast.church email in this program or app:
- Head across to Home > Our Communities > Information Technology > First Time User – Microsoft 365 Email and Cloud
- And go to the guidance for setting up your church email on your program or app of choice for the first time.
Summary instructions
- Open Thunderbird.
- Go to “Account Settings”
- Change the User Name in Server Settings for your church account from ‘larberteast.church’ to tryst.church’
- Allow the email program to re-start
- Change the account name and email address fields for your church account within ‘Account Settings’
- Within the ‘Outgoing Server’ settings change your user name from ‘larberteast.church’ to ‘tryst.church’
